EFPIA is looking to recruit an Associate Director Research and Regulatory in its Science & Regulatory team.
In this position, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and optimizing R&D opportunities, fostering precompetitive collaborations with a regulatory science component, and their translation into relevant EU Regulatory practices in collaboration with team leads responsible for regulatory strategy, evidence generation strategy and clinical trials strategy, amongst others.
This is a critical role within EFPIA, and we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual, well experienced in the life sciences spectrum, who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-moving work environment.
In this role you will:
- Facilitate precompetitive ideation processes
- Enhance the regulatory impact of precompetitive collaborations (IMI & IHI)
- Support regulatory science initiatives (including EMA dedicated platforms)
- Coordinate industry activities through relevant EFPIA working groups
- Provide expert input into internal and external cross-functional groups
- Coordinate EFPIA response to various institutional consultations (e.g. EMA guidelines)
- Manage and align expert groups
- Collaborate with internal EFPIA teams on interdisciplinary topics
- Represent EFPIA at external meetings
Qualifications and skills:
We are looking for professionals with the following qualifications to achieve our goals:
- Min. 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry, drug regulatory authority, or industry trade association
- Relevant university degree in pharmaceutical sciences, biology, chemistry, law, or related fields
- Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical value chain, European regulatory framework, and industry challenges
- Proven understanding of and ideally experience in precompetitive collaborations and crossfunctional project management
- Previous experience in interactions with health and regulatory authorities

In this position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping EU healthcare policy, driving strategic advocacy, and building key relationships with policymakers. As the bridge between EFPIA and EU institutions, you’ll ensure our industry’s voice is heard, influencing legislation that impacts patients and innovation across Europe.
This is a critical position within EFPIA, and we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual, well experienced in the public affairs spectrum, who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-moving work environment.
Role:
You will report to the Executive Director, Public Affairs and will lead several priority dossiers in the organisation’s strategic advocacy and outreach activities related to legislation as well as for industry driven policy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading on EU legislation and policy
- Identify opportunities to influence EU legislation and policies in line with EFPIA priorities.
- Provide advocacy support to and work in collaboration with relevant EFPIA policy teams: e.g. monitoring, developing or advising on advocacy strategy & preparing tailored advocacy material.
- Managing relationships with key EU stakeholders
- Primary responsibility to ensure EFPIA has strong and collaborative relationships with political platforms and external stakeholders such as NGOs and other industry organisations.
- Organising external events relevant to advocacy strategies with the aim to educate and inform as well as foster existing relationships & to build new ones with key policymakers and influencers.
Qualifications and skills:
We are looking for professionals with the following qualifications to achieve our goals:
- University degree required (bachelor’s in political science/business/law). A master’s in European studies, public policy, international affairs, political science, or similar advanced degree is desired.
- Strong political grasp – graduate with 10+ years of direct experience in European policy and government affairs.
- Understanding the external environment, EU political and legislative decision-making processes. Skilled judgement on positioning and tone of sensitive and complex policy issues is essential.
- Ability to grasp complex technical information and “translate” it for non-expert audiences.
- Strong communication (written and oral), networking, collaboration and interpersonal skills – ability to build relationships of trust with a wide range of individuals and organizations.
- Proven track record of effective leadership, including cross-functional leadership of government affairs strategies and projects to support organisational objectives.
- Strategic and flexible thinking – ability to multi-task, project management, handle complex issues, and translate insights into sound analysis and advice to the organisation.
- High personal accountability and integrity.
- Must have mother tongue level of English with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and consistent attention to details.

EFPIA is seeking a dynamic Manager for its Legal Affairs team specializing in Corporate Sustainability , environmental regulations, and policy development. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the pharmaceutical industry’s sustainability agenda at a critical moment, as key EU corporate sustainability legislations are being revised and implemented. As part of the Legal Affairs team, you will work at the forefront of sustainability policy, engaging directly with regulators, industry leaders, and stakeholders to drive meaningful change.
In addition to leading on corporate sustainability legislation and policy, the role will contribute to broader legal affairs and policy initiatives, including support for intellectual property, and ethics & compliance-related working groups and committees.
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled professional with a strong background in EU sustainability legislation and an understanding of the life sciences legal landscape. Role and Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Sustainability & Policy:
- Legislative Engagement & Implementation: Lead EFPIA’s participation in the revision and implementation of key EU sustainability initiatives, including CSRD, CS3D (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence), and other relevant legislation.
- Regulatory & Policy Advocacy: Work closely with EU policymakers, regulators, and industry representatives to shape the implementation of sustainability legislation and advocate for policies tailored to the pharmaceutical sector’s specific needs.
- Industry Performance & Reporting: Drive collaboration with stakeholders to assess industry performance based on sustainability reports, advocate for changes to EU Taxonomy Technical Screening Criteria, and contribute to the development of sector-specific reporting standards aligned with EU and global regulations.
Broader Legal Affairs & Support:
- Intellectual Property & Digital Regulation: Support the specialized Digital IP Sub-Group, providing input on the intersection of Intellectual Property (IP) and the European Health Data Space (EHDS).
- Ethics & Compliance Support: Provide operational support to the Ethics & Compliance Committee, including organization, follow-up actions, and coordination on compliance initiatives.
Job qualifications:
- Master’s degree in law.
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare or sustainability sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English – working knowledge of other EU languages is an asset.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adaptable and flexible mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Good knowledge of the European institutional environment and institutional interactions.
- Good judgment, leadership, and management capability.

The opportunity:
We are looking for a highly motivated intern to support the Director of Intellectual Property (IP) in the development and implementation of EFPIA’s strategy on intellectual property and exclusivity-based incentives for pharmaceutical innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination and administration of EFPIA's IP-related working groups.
- Support the drafting of advocacy materials and internal policy documents on a broad range of IP and innovation topics.
- Contribute to the development of strategic and operational plans in support of EFPIA’s IP objectives.
- Help monitor IP policy developments at EU and international levels.
- Liaise with EFPIA members and external stakeholders to gather input and consolidate industry positions.

Terms and conditions
You will be offered a professional integration agreement (convention d’immersion professionnelle) for max 6 months, Brussels-based. You must not have already completed a 12-month CIP or have been in full time professional employment yet and have the right to work and live in the EU. The intern will be entitled to 6 days holiday plus national bank holidays.
